As above, after all the troubles I've had over last 8 weeks, it now appears the battery is dying too, only
running at 42% according the Stealers diagnostics. Well I'm not paying out €330 + TVA so I'm trying
to get one from ECP as recommended on here, but there seem to be quite a few, which is the correct one??

Is this it pls ?? Is 100 Ah sufficient??

Thxvm in advance

That's the beastie.  019 format.  100Ah is slightly higher than the OEM (90Ah), and it's what I had on mine.

That's the same as I bought about 2 weeks ago and it was around the £110 mark.

You'll get the Varta equivalent for about £80 and it's said to be the same battery with same guarantees !

I would be inclined to go with the Varta as well, simply because the Bosch units seem to have such a limited life time. Even though it is warranted, it is still a pain to replace them again.

They also only replace them on the original warranty terms, so when I went through 3 of them in my Golf they stopped replacing them. Changed to a Varta and not replaced it for over 10 years now.

Can someone tell me the model number etc I need for the Varta equivalent pls?
Is it this one http://www.batterymegastore.co.uk/product/H3/ ??

I've been on ECP website and nothing comes up for X5.

Anyone heard of this make, Alphaline? Gets 10/10 on batterymegastore.

You need an 019 case format rated at 90Ah or higher, with a cold start crank capability (CCA) of 830A or higher.  Preferably an AGM type (Asorbent Glass Mat), or gel filled.

Looking on websites, it just states Calcium Sealed, where do I see if it's AGM or Gel filled??

So I wasn't the only one?

Replaced the S5 with a brand new one from ECP about 2 months back. It would work, but the retention time went down drastically. I blamed it partially on little usage of car and using the aux heater daily in the last winters!

Anyways same usage I proving to be ok so far this time

Calcium = AGM.  Uses a Calcium/Lead recipe.  :)
