My console above the rear view mirror seems a bit useless except for the interior lights at the front of it, is it possible to buy one from a different model that carries sun glasses?

YES, there is a variant that houses sun glasses... I thought thay all came with this fitment ??
If you do get one that houses sunglasses etc, make sure you put some self adhesive felt in the holder, as it rattles anything in it like an annoying wasp other wise !!!

Sunglasses fitment was discontinued after a certain year. In my OCT 2004 build (MY2005) it was no longer available.

I must have been lucky with my 2004 facelift, its totally fully loaded..... and has all of the extra goodies
