Hi all.
I'll be driving from Edinburgh to Nairn on Xmas Eve to spend Xmas with the in-laws, and the boot is going to be jam-packed with stuff so I won't be able to pull the cargo blind across. Can anyone recommend a net or other type of barrier that will prevent stuff flying out of the boot and into back seat occupants (a three-year-old and a two-month-old!)? I'm away from home, so I can't check if I have a cargo net tucked away in the boot, or if I even have lashing eyes on the ceiling/floor of the boot that would allow me to put a net up. TBH, I'd feel more at ease with something a bit more solid than a net, so I've been thinking of a dog guard, but I would want something extremely neat like this for example: http://amzn.to/1wcxpbN.
Amy recommendations would be appreciated.
Cheers
Scott

Re: Safety/cargo net
Hi Scott
I bought a dog guard for my E70 from
Cotswold Hereford
Telephone Number: 01432 375555
I emailed them on partshereford@cotswoldgroup.com, giving them my VIN number.
The reason I mention it is that it fits in my F15 as well. It sits rather like the one in the link you posted and is secured by fitting over the lugs that hold the rear seat back in place. Its solid and doesnt waste boot space in the way some of the cheaper ones do. It cost £133.40 at the time (which was March 2013).
There is a cargo net cassette thing that is a BMW OEM part. Where your existing cassette pulls horizontally to cover the loadspace there's another cassette next to it that pulls vertically and must secure to some sort of hook in the ceiling? Not sure if you can retrofit. As i have a dog and the dealer described the vertical cassette as quite flimsy I didn't go down that line when i got the F15, preferring to try my existing guard or being prepared to order a new one. Happily the existing one also fit.

Re: Safety/cargo net
That's great, thanks Kenniff, I'll see what they have to say. I don't think there are any lashing eyes in the ceiling to attach a net or vertical cassette to anyway. Will let you know how I go...

Re: Safety/cargo net
Three week delivery time on the genuine BMW one, the part number for the F15 is actually different that for the E70 (according to realoem), and about £200! I bought one from Halfords for £70 on the proviso that if it didn't fit I get a full refund. It fits fine so job done.

Re: Safety/cargo net
Glad you got it sorted.
I'm not surprised there's a different part number between E70 and F15 - i fully expected to have to buy another but magically it fitted. Perhaps there's some slight differences around the profile of the interior but it looks fine to me.
