It's worse from a Dealer!!  Supermarkets don't always give a great price either.  Motor Factors are frequently better priced.

suggestion... try and search on ebay as many of the dealers/ressies and parts like companies such as eurocarparts and carparts4less are now present in there. E.g I bought 8L Castrol Edge (10W 40) for just over 50 quid :).

Worth investigating...

I got caught short on a sunday, unfortunately I accidentally over filled with oil by quite a bit (long story) and decided that as its halfway between services that I would treat it to new oil and main filter.....lol...dropped the oil before finding more.....which is not good on a sunday lunch  ;)

Yes, but Magnatec is much cheaper than Edge!!!

Usually ECP are reasonable for Edge 5w 30 at around £30 for 4 litres.

Alternatively, you could always let National Tyres do an oil and filter change for less than you can buy the parts for. They use Fuchs LL04 these days so no problems with the oil. It's then down to whether you trust them to do a good job and if you can live without the precious BMW stamp in your book  ::)

Agree... A stamp would do and i guess the key is to keep the receipts so at least you can back up the work done on the vehicle.
