1. OBD programmed for Aux heater on display (manual timer),

2. RED fan light lights constant red when the timer is set and ignition turned off,

3. RED light starts to flash when the timer reaches the pre-set time,

4. Nothing happens, no noise from heater etc etc.

I tried connecting pin 1 to live and I got nothing, I have checked the fuse number 59 (20amp) and it is fine.

I started the car in very cold conditions this morning and pushed the button for the windscreen de-icer and it seems to be working when I do that, the unit got hot to touch etc.

It may be possible that I have missed something else when I programmed (ticked the box) the Aux heater to appear on the screen via the pc software, is there something else that needs enabling ????

Pin1 overrides everything..
If that doesn't work then there is a fault.

When you demist it uses the normal coolant / heater matrix to do that.
The aux heater is probably hot from the coolant flowing through it?!

The light flashing would say the timer has timed out and it should be doing something.
did the internal fan come on??

Set it for a short period and sit in the car and see what happens..
The Webasto fan should run up, then down a bit then you'll hear the fuel pump pulse.
The heater should fire up and the webasto's fan regulate from there.

The usual provisos - Outside temp <5deg, coolant <15deg, sufficient voltage and fuel
But as said, i think pin1 bypasses all of that though.

I dont know if your scanner will access the webasto itself, but INPA does allow you to test all the components individually and then run it.
Just dont run the fuel pump too long as it will smoke a lot when you manage to ignite the burner..
Been there, done that..  Car was completely engulfed in a plume of white smoke.  Couldn't see the car, or anything around it for a few mins.....

INPA is that software or do I need a new scanner too? pretty sure my scanner will not do the webasto.

when setting the timer 1 do I then need to set timer 2 also??

INPA is software.
Not sure what OBD hardware it will work with.

I believe (but dont quote me) that the scanner 1.4.0 type one will work with it.
Will need to google it.

INPA is BMW software and often comes 'free' with 20pin / 16 pin OBD to USB connectors and works well with E38, E39, E46, E53 and so on. Later cars with 16 pin OBD ports are straightforward as the whole will work with USB ports. INPA is quite easy to install (unlike DIS and PROGMAN) and is relatively safe to work with as its mostly for code reading, error clearing and test activation, rather than (re)coding like NCS.
