Noisy Servo under Gear Lever

I have a 2012 X5 30D M Sport. Every since I got it I have noticed a servo sound when I change from drive to park/park to drive and reverse. Although this is the first 8 speed auto box I have had, I have had an E60 and E61 with the 6 speed box and neither of them made any noise when moving the gear lever (I know it is not actually a lever). Has anyone had this? Is it normal or have I got a soontobegoosed servo.

Never heard any noises like that on mine. The shifter is only a 'joystick' AFAIK, no mechanical components as it just tells the gearbox computer what you have chosen.

I have discussed this with the technician (whatever happened to mechanics) at the local BMW dealer this morning. He listened to the noise when the gear "lever" is moved. He says it is normal and is the solenoid for the parking lock engaging and disengaging. I questioned why I had not heard this on my previous E60 and E61 auto boxes and the response was that the X5 and X6 have a different gearbox and the park lock system is unique to the X5 and X6.
