Friends got one and he said it took a bit of getting used to but he wouldn't change back to a manual now. I think his is the DCG on the latest M3 and gear shifts are instant.

He does about 20 track days a year too.

Reliability wise stick with the manual every time! I know lots of people who have had smg m3 and box is always going to go. Mate has an 02 plate one currently for sale for £9000 Ono, with 90k in silver. I test drove it not so long back, it's a quick machine

As already said they can be troublesome

I had an m6 for a week last year and it was great wen you were on it, uncomfortable the rest of the time because of the box

They take alittle getting used to before you can give them full beans

With the damp weather about at the moment thay are not the easiest things to get the power down.

RAPID --- Mine has had the magic Jason touch :) :)

Gettin the loud pedal down wasn't a prob, nor was the fishtailing and wheelspining upto 4th :D . I just didnt like the clutch :( , gearbox :( , handling :( , steering :( , suspension :( . And the sound, it just wasn't right. Might have just been that car though :|
I love the shape and the interior, just cant afford to have it sat on the drive just for me to sit in

E46 M3 exhaust note an accquired taste - not mine.

Used forecourt has one near me & the proprietor offered me a go in it before Christmas but due to being busy & the icy roads I didnt take him up on it. I may have a play albeit I have prior convnced myself such a car would be fun for a blast but not a comfoertable thing to live with everyday.

B3S for sale with Prins Vsi clicky here

...........a few miles under wheels but seemingly very very well sorted & alpina register member selling is open to offers

Your colour too.

Just like an X5 buying a neglected car can literraly cost thousnads later..........Don't wish to insult your intelligence but be careful out there.

I dont want to invite an LPG debate but would comment as follows.

I have my own LPG reservations hence not doing my X5 as of yet but............

You've prior indicated asensible agenda to watch the £'s

It will be far more economical when running on LPG.

The LPG kit fitted to it is about best money can buy.

The seller seems the sort to pay high attention to mechanical integrity & reliablity.

You could always have the kit removed & sell it

I only watch the pounds cos I'm tight ....I would certainly never myself worry too much about economy or I wouldn't have bought a 4.6 V8 X5 nor would I of had it remapped.
Pevious agenda to watch the pounds was cos I was unemployed. Now that I am in employment I don't care too much hence the looking to buy an M3 or Alpina. Otherwise I would sell the X and just drive the Metro smoker everywhere :driving: ;)
