Hi there,

Im having many problems with my navigation system and not sure where to start, so i thought I would ask for some advice.

Problem One

My MK4 Nav (v32) seems to be tripping out, it done it once before and went to a basic blue screen upfront with no nav options. I removed the dvd drive, unplugged and reseated the connections and all was fine for a week or so.

Today the drive has done the same, so I unplugged it again but it wont fire up? the unit has power as the eject button is illuminated however the red LED isnt.

If I hold the eject button the unit powers up and I can see the Splash Screen load upfront. When I release the button it powers off again.

Problem Two

Im only getting sound from one speaker, I beleive this is my BM54 so im going to send for repair

Problem Three

I was sat in the car whilst the wife was shopping and thought I woud try out the TV (all oem) and started with a scan which found no analogue channels and 7 digital, so I assume I have a digital TV module?

Whilst watching every couple of mins the tv would loose signal and say mute at the bottom in green, then would display the program again, is this a fault or just poor signal?

Could any of the above be related?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

1.  Sounds like you need your nav comp repairing.  It certainly sounds as if it might be dying.

3.  Most likely to be very poor signal.  You should see a lot more channels than that (up to 96).  No analogue though as that is all off now.  And yes you have a hybrid analogue/digital set.  It seems you were only seeing one multiplex so we're in a cr@p signal area.

Thank you.

Now I just need to work out why the nav isn't powering up...

Thanks

Check fuses 7, 41.  Front fusebox, and there is another in the rear one I think - as in fuse.

Sometimes disconnecting them for 20 mins may bring it back to life.

Tried disconnecting the fuses, no joy.

Still only powers when eject is pressed

Is the Nav Disc a genuine BMW disc? Copies or those from other suppliers?? are a known to cause issue's with he Nav system and have been blamed for their demise.

Just to say I have had the same issues which ended up with the mega ridiculously expensive nav being replaced under warranty a few months ago. Same strange blue screen, no nav option, random rebooting and glitches.

It was fine after BMW replaced the nav unit, but this week its started doing the same random rebooting nonsense and tonight the odd blue screen minus  nav option returned......... So I guess mine will be revisiting the dealer, this time the screen has developed 2 part rows of dead pixels, so maybe they will replace that too.

And the self levelling suspension inactive message has returned too, although the ride height etc all feels fine and the drive quality is still great.....not sure if the faults are connected somehow some sort of computer /CANBUS error?

I bet the warranty company hate my X, but I am keeping it under extended warranty as long as I can.........

Will update the saga as it develops !

Hope yours is less of a pain!
