Auxiliary Heater in a Petrol X5-pic

Post by CondorX5 » Sat Jan 01, 2011 6:51 pm

I've taken a pic of the Aux Heater in my 4.8 - a few people have asked about the Aux Heater in the petrol Xes, which is a pretty rare option, and asked if I'd post a pic. I'll try to get better close ups when the weather improves, it was a really miz day. It seems to be the same Diesel Thermotop Webasto as in the 3.0D, but with the addition of some additional gadgetry - there is an extra power feed in, and the fuel system has been modified to take petrol instead of diesel. Can't explain how, but someone may eventually come along and enlighten us all  The Webasto unit is just in front of the passenger side of the window, just below the bonnet.

Does the petrol version do the same as the diesel one that if you move the car just to wash it, it is chucking away for a few minutes even though the key is out?

Yes, it does....only very briefly. And for some reason, you have to press the remote twice to get it going in the morning!!!
