P0128 error code - coolant temp sensor

Post by centurion » Tue Nov 18, 2014 5:30 pm

i did my first scan today using elm327 and Torque phone app... all fine apart from abovementioned error which seems to be pointing to CTS ;).

i checked coolant level (fine), no obvious leaks on the pipework and something to note that temp is at the 'middle point'... all in all fine as it does take good 7-10min to reach that level and i think that's std  avg time to reach optimal working temperature on any car. Pls correct me if I'm wrong :)?

Other than that I'd certainly change the coolant temp. sensor and was wondering if anyone can advise how easy/difficult is it to do 9and more importantly where is on 4.8is)?

Cheers

hi I tried replacing one today but it seems that coolant is leaking badly when I tried to unscrew the sensor :). Guess I'm doing something wrong...  Any hints on how to prevent that or best practises to accomplish this easy (or not so) task :)? Ta

1.Drain system below water pump level or
2.Swap sensors very very quick :)

cheers... re #1, where abouts is the drain plug (for coolant) :)?

in additon, while trying to dismount the sensor a hose connected to intake manifold had snapped (due to age and no longer rubbery) and would need to replace it. Does anyone know what it is it used for (see attached image)?
