Forget remaps HHO is the way to go?

HHO kits for your car, add hydrogen to air mixture for increased mpg.

Seems some basic chemistry at play. Surprised main manufacturers are not building these into new models, in bed with oil companies?
Seems to be a bit of a cottage industry at moment with American truckers adding kits to vehicles. Also a fair bit on you tube / google etc.

So where are you going to get your supply of hydrogen? Where are you going to store it? It needs special containers, compressed gas cylinders and handling. You might even need Hazchem markings unless using approved hardware - and there isn't much about.

The system in the video makes HHO , browns gas , 2 parts hydrogen and 1 part oxygen , whatever you want to call it . You mix water and lye ( maybe baking soda ) basically make a weak solution of battery acid ( you know how lead acid batteries give off explosive gas whilst charging , same stuff ) and put an electric current through the solution to make the gas . You fine tune the system to produce the required amount .
Some trickery involved to fool the O2 sensors , basically a 4.7k ohms resistor will work .The video shows a variable adjuster on the dashboard .
This gas is used in addition to petrol or diesel giving complete and clean fuel burn .
The gas is corrosive so you don`t want to use too much unless the engine is modified with stainless steel intake valves . Not really a great idea on direct injection engines .
It does give improved mpg and a very clean engine .

Lye is really nasty stuff, Sodium Hydroxide, a very powerful alkali (opposite of battery acid) which will burn you and anything else it reacts with if mishandled. You need to ensure the hydrogen is pure too, with no vapours from the other materials used in the gas produced.
This is basically Hydrogenated Fuel and as you say needs careful modifications in order to avoid damaging the engine. The costs of getting it wrong will far outweigh any emissions savings!
Probably explains partly why it's not exactly common in fuel stations.....

From what I can gather your are basically trickle feeding hydrogen gas into air intake which mixes with air. Supplied by small hydrogen cell (electrolysis) . The hydrogen being highly combustible, gives you a bigger bang and supplements the bang you get from petrol/diesel fuel.
Does need a bit of trickery to fool sensors. Seems to be catching on with a lot of drivers, perhaps early days to see if there is future downsides. :-\

It`s nothing new . Bernard Montgomery , 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein used hydrogen generator units to save fuel on his armoured divisions .

All looks very Heath Robinson unless it's being properly metered into the intake based on throttle demand......

It is very Heath Robinson . People have been playing around with the stuff for years . Someone has optimised the size and shape of stainless steel electrodes required to limit the amp draw . A cylinder within a cylinder with a specific gap between them works best .
There are ways to slow gas production whilst idling or in stop start driving but there are limits to what can reasonably be produced for car with a small engine due to alternator output . A small amount of gas will help to burn the fuel more efficiently .
The big units used on large trucks are interesting , plenty info on the web and utube . Much research required into safety precautions before attempting to use the gas .
