BMW X4 test drive

Post by sid10 » Thu Nov 13, 2014 10:43 pm

Test drove a 30d X4 on Tuesday , first impression it was a great looking car with a decent sized cabin everything felt a lot more premium built than the X1 the wife is driving .
It felt quite well sorted driving it with plenty of power & good brakes the only thing I was shocked with was the price ticked a few options , towbar , heated rear seats , service pack , £50k !
Anyone else test drove or looked at it , thoughts ?

I haven't driven one yet, but like you was amazed at just how expensive it can be once the options start going on.  I was impressed when I had a look around one though.

I dread to think what the new X6 could cost when the 40d versions appear in mid-2015  :o

My mate just bought a 40d 14 plate X6 10 miles with £6000 of Xtras & got £10000 off list price ! They have made a big mistake with the price as the 20d starts at £36000 plus £1600 for an auto so you are pushing 40k for a 2 litre engine with a few options .

I went for test drive with a friend who was thinking of buying one as his company car.
Was quite impressed, handled well, nice power/torque, nice cabin, not as small as I would
have thought in the back with the more sloped roof, but the cost!!
He had a few boxes ticked, nothing too extravagant and it was €70k more or less  :'(

In the end he's gone for a Land Rover Evoque Sport, more extras, but about €10k less and
cheaper monthly lease cost.

It's up £3k on the basic spec.  No 40d until Summer 2015.  Loads of spy pics on line.

Pro Nav is now standard as are a couple of other bits like anti-collision (whatever that is?) but some of the addon packs are alleged to be mega bucks according to early reviews.  I think there is a pack called 'Ultimate Comfort' of which no details are given but it one for those that like their toys and is an eye watering price.

15% better economy (official NOT real world data) and the 40d will be 309bhp.  Same transmissions.

Take loads of pics......

IMO, it's too expensive for what it is. I also felt that it was slightly cramped.
