Hi
Hope all members are well.
I recently had my car put on the bmw scanner tool 1.4.0
The error it came up with was
ABS* -> 5EB0/E0 - Steering angle sensor: internal Error : Signal invalid.
Errors after clear:
no errors
The traction control light was on.
After clearing the codes the light went off but came back on shortly. I had the sensor recalibrated from garage using auto logic.
Fault appeared soon after and traction control light lit up again.
Can cleaning the sensor solve the problem? I have seen a few on ebay for about £40 genuine used ones so might get one.
Is it an easy job to do yourself and then take it to garage for coding and recalibrating?
I have changed the handbrake on car so ok with tools. Only problem is i have big hands lol.
Any help appreciated.

Re: bmw x5 4.8is steering angle sensor fault signal invalid
Wow that looks very simple. I will definitely give it a go.
Is cleaning sensor of any benefit? Can it be repaired? If not I'll just buy the used genuine BMW one.
I also have the bmw 1.4.0 scanner. Would that be able to code and recalibrate sensor or is it only gt1 and autologic?
Thanks

Re: bmw x5 4.8is steering angle sensor fault signal invalid
UPDATE
replaced the sensor which was a pain in the backside. >:(
ok so after the sensor was replaced i used the bmw scanner 1.4.0 to code it. i think this was successful.
However i could not calibrate the sensor using the software.
So i ended up going to BMW specialist who did it on auto logic.
Now the light has been off for a few days. Thanks for all the help.
