Can anyone identify this part?

Post by b20wht » Wed Nov 05, 2014 7:12 pm

Today I took off the inlet manifold off to get to a couple of vacuum pipes that had seen better days.  One of them went from one of the small pipes off the main servo pipe that's just under the front of the inlet manifold down to a small unit that looks like a washer pump motor (obviously it isn't but looks similar) it is located just to the right off the glow plug control unit and has 2 vacuum pipes and a electrical connection going to it.  Anyone know what this is and does?  The pipe going to it was completely squashed flat so I thought it might make some difference with a new pipe on but it hasn't that I'm aware of.

Does it look like this by any chance?  If so it's part of the emissions control system.

What month was your car built because my 2004 doesn't have it, it's shown as being on the pre-Facelifted version only.  ???

Mine is a face lifted 04 plate.  Its not that part, but similar. The connection is on the top of the unit and the pipes nearer the bottom.  Its fitted slightly tilted  and as I say just to the right of the glow control unit and down a bit.

Have a look at Realoem.com and put your last 7 characters from your VIN in the serial number box and see if it shows up under the engine parts sheets after you've got through?

Still part of the AGR vacuum system/emissions control system.  Probably an error on the slide that says it's not fitted.  >:(

I looked at that slide and discounted it because of the 'not fitted' message too.  It may be that as the valve controls the vacuum then one hose will be flat due to the vacuum?
