Spacers - few questions

So I have decided to get some spacers for the rears (and maybe fronts as well) - likely 20mm rears.

Decided (after researching on here and responses from Raj mostly) that Eibach System 7 ones are the ones to get (bolt onto hub) so I will be ordering today.

Looking at how they fit I am pretty sure I can do it myself, but fitting tips anyone has would be appreciated - or is it really very straightforward ?

I also want to get my wheels tracked / aligned (hasn't been done for ages) - best to do this before the spacers go on or doesn't it really matter ?

Cheers guys n gals

Ro.

They are very straight forward to fit. The type 7 system simply bolt to the hub just as you would the wheel. Then once torqued etc correctly bolt the wheel to the spacer.

Just add some copper grease or something between the spacer and hub lip.

Get the tracking done afterwards. Even though it very very negligible the spacers will effect the tracking.

I do them to the normal wheel torque setting.

OK great - thanks again.

Next post will be me asking how you re-attach the wheels with sheared wheel boltsĀ  ;)

Hi Raj

Dumb question - do you use the existing wheel bolts to bolt the wheel to the spacer?

The kit came with the bolts to bolt the spacer to the hub and 8 other bolts - should those be used to bolt the wheel to the spacer or the existing bolts ?

You should have got 10 new bolts to bolt the wheel to the spacer. You should use these as your existing bolts will be too long and foul on the hub.

The smaller bolts to bolt spacer to hub and the larger bolts to bolt wheel to spacer.

Thanks Raj - what about the locking wheel bolt ? That one I assume is same length as others, and therefore cannot be used ?

I actually bought a new set of locking wheel bolts that were cut down to my spec as I was running 20mm front and 30mm rear spacers.

Ah ok - I didn't know you could get them cut down - do you remember where you bought them from ?
