3.0i Remap by Jason @BW Chiptune results

Those who were on the last forum may remember Jason looking for a 3.0i to remap. There are many people who believe that remapping a normal aspirated car just aint worth it so, Jason was hoping to prove this to be untrue with the 3.0i........myself having had a n/a car done in the past was one of the biggest sceptics of this so despite showing a little intrest with Jason i could not see the point.

Enough of the background info......At the last Bristol meet in October Jason came along with all his gear and after a few beers (then care free lol) ended up remapping my car and asked if i would give my "honest" opinion on here. I believe the map he used was a 50/50 type with an aim to give performance and economy so after a few months of driving i can now give my thoughts.

The car has suprised me a little in a few ways but has dissapointed in others, saying that when Jason and myself meet again there is more to be done on the car and hopefully get the best from my 3.0i. The first thing i noticed was the improvement in mid range acceleration, where i live it is like roundabout city so from around 40mph coming off roundabouts the car really does pick up much better than before......so much so even the wife noticed (she is a non driver) the car pulling away quicker and i had not told her about the remap. Also the car from a standing start pulls away much quicker than before so i'm even more cheeky pulling out at all the these roundabouts LOL. OK now onto what what i would like to impove........i have not noticed any improvement in mpg at all although, most of my driving is around town and short trips i was hoping for some gains. Having spoken to Jason he was suprised at this so something for him to work on LOL. Also i'm not sure if this has anything to do with the remap but the gearchange can be unwanted at times and like the car is in sport mode but, this maybe something i have just noticed more since the remap.

Next time i meet up with Jason i would like to see if we can gain some mpg however small. Also on the motorway the car seems to lack a little overtaking power especially on an incline, i hace not metioned this to Jason but i'm sure he will have some ideas.

Final thoughts, being a non believer of the n/a remap i am plesantly suprised about the gains i have received but IF we can improve this still i will be well happy. At the moment do i think the remap is worth it ???? I'm on the fence ..............with a few tweaks do i think it will be worth it?????? i'm almost sure i will. One thing i will say though is you will defo get gains in some shape or form.

Please remember this is ongoing guys so i'll keep this updated as Jason work his magic on the car next time.

Not wishing to be rude but Pewters opening post already clarifies this...He is yet to meet with Jason the remap provider to look into potential improvements with his car &/or it's mapping :)

I realise this is a very old topic, has there been any advance/improvements on a map for the 3.0i?

If Jason is around, what modifications would you recommend to improve the performance/mpg?

Cheers

P

Spoke to Jason today and hopefully will be having a remap on the 3.0i in November. He even helped with a stalling issue I'm having as mines a manual the results will differ from the previous remap.
To give abit of info mines a 2003 3.0i manual 140k on the clock with new ccv and fsh. I'll be replacing vanos seals before the remap so car should be tip top in terms of original power output.
Once it's done I'll give feedback for others contemplating this, however after speaking to Jason I can confirm this will be a work in progress and further tweaks may be required.
Unlike the previous guinea pig I'll be paying for the remap and feeding back the issues as they arise.
