Spy Shots.
Scheduled to start production in early 2015. 4.4 Turbo (twin with twin scroll?) and approaching 600bhp fitted with the 8sp box. I wonder if that's the Rolls version as it is rated up to 1000Nm?
Sure to be a beast of a car. Ugly though.
X6 version to follow.

Good spot.....trying to type whilst keeping my 18 month old away from my iPad is not recommended. Corrected.

Not really. Interesting though that it will be a lot lighter than the standard F15 as it makes use of CFRP in place of some normally metal or plastic panels so I'm guessing that maybe the roof, bonnet, front wings might be made from it as well as some of the interior?
That would keep the C of G low to improve handling?

An M5 would have an even lower CofG!!
No it all has to help doesn't it

Well, a nicely specced x5m e70 would cost around £92k ,
I'm guessing it'll be around £100k .
If I had £100k spare id buy a year old x5 50d and a second hand GT-R or RS6 (c6?)

Very true
If it had to be new then it would have to be the newly launched SVO RRS at £100k

I've been thinking about this CoG thing, and surely CoG effects can be controlled via 'smart' suspension systems (reducing body roll when cornering and pitch when braking/accelerating - as both are effectively moments from the bottom of the wheels applying the force X vertical distance to the CoG, for each axle). My Merc CL63 AMG had more body roll than my current X6M50d

Trick suspension can not alter physics, in the same way that stability control can't save you-physics will always rule.
Surprised you even posted that given your academic back ground!

Well of course I'm not saying that smart designs can alter physics, but they can certainly reduce these effects - hence why I used the word "...controlled..." rather than "eliminated"
However, my main point is that some SUVs (e.g. my X6 M50d) are better at managing body roll than some road cars with lower CoG (e.g. the CL63 AMG I used to have) - given that both of these cars come in at around 2.2 tonnes in mass.

X 5 M power , wow. ! Not worth £ 100 K, not different enough to a M Sport X5 5D with 22 " wheels.
Rather have a one year old DB9 for 90 K, and a holiday in Barbados, winter is here !
