Not your usual 20 year old just bought a X5 3.0D

This is my 4th car since January:











Some issues that need to be sorted, if anyone can help with the issues?
Horn doesn't work

One heat seat doesn't work
Parking sensors
Folding mirrors - they fold but then unfold by them self
Rear doors don't open from outside, handles a bit iffy.
And the sat nav thinks I'm in France lol

Have a careful check of those wheels too. If the tread is clear of the wheel arch measured vertically then you need the extensions too otherwise you'll fail the MOT as well as Construction & Use Regulations. It looks very close from the pictures but you might be OK due to the angles you took the pics at.

Satnav isn't the OEM one but an aftermarket fitment so it could be a GPS fault.

Seat heating failure may be a connector under the seat or a fuse, but could also be element failure in which case you need a new seat cover.

There's a fix on here for the mirror issue, and lots of advice about the PDC fault as both are pretty common.  PDC could be a sensor, wiring, or control unit.

Door handle fixes also on here....could be broken lock carriers both sides.

On top if last reply the  horn issue likely a connection issue as I think it's twin tone so unlikely both have packed up. Worth checking fuse for starters other than that competent use of a basic circuit tester may be sensible. Be careful messing near airbag and get a professional to check connections there in any doubt. Hope past airbag activation not a factor.

From pics car looks ok but the wheels make the car look cheap and tacky IMO.

Would be interested to know how much your insurance costs p/a albeit appreciate you may not wish to share this info.

I'm paying about £1500 a year insurance.

Ordered two microswitches today, as one was missing, so hopefully that's the mirrors sorted.

Getting the horn and door handles looked at tomro.

Starting to come along now.

Need to get this remapped

£1500 not bad relative to your age - I hope it's fully comp though.

My 20 year old son also drives a 59 plate BMW. This is because he pays £25 per week keep. When I was his age I paid a third of my wage to my parents. That's why they never leave Home these days. But spend all their money on cars instead.  I was on my second house when I was 23

The mirrors I'm doing them myself, and the satnav I ordered a new navigation cd and that should do the trick.

Need someone to do the sensors

Door handles get from eBay, I did and they work perfectly, in BMW £70 and odd £30 or less in eBay and my local indy said that they same make as he bought his from BMW!
Shouldn't be more than 1 one job unless u go with diy with little help from YouTube!

Few issues I need help with:

Steering wheel vibration when I drive past 60, had it hunter balanced and suspension parts are okay. Could it be the 22" tyres and low profiles?

Also sometimes the car takes a while to get to half way on temp gauge. No codes, should I be worried?

Yes, or suspension wear, or bush wear, or bent rims.

Might be thermostat heading towards end of life.
