Just seen a brand spanking new E70 leaving my local dealer with what appear to be either HID or LED based Angel Eyes. I thought this change was supposed to happen from October (week40) but this is the first one I've seen. These were a 'as delivered' item, not a change by the new Owner.

Does any one know what is now being used as the light source for the Angel Eyes? They look as bright as the latest 3 and 5 series models.

Wouldn't mind a set on my X6

Mine has them but dont know what is used

They are completely different and therefore not retro-fittable (if that is english!) at the minute

What was your build week?

Not sure but a 60 plate car picked up sept 1st, think its a july build.

Interesting. That change was supposed to be introduced in Week 40 (4th-10th Oct) along with the commbox controller and USB system changes. Perhaps they've done it for the LCI (facelift) E70 and that particular change will come on the LCI X6 next year. Probably a HID system then. Tnx anyway.
EDIT Found out it is some kind of LED based system according to RealOEM and as you say is not retrofittable. Interestingly the parts system also says my X6 40d has no headlights Last time I saw the car it had two, one each side

Mine was a week 39 build so I'm guessing the new parts arrived early & bang, they're in Good on ya BMW
