Pull the fuses for the Nav. They're in the boot, right hand side panel as you look in. Leave them off for 30 minutes and replace.

If it's still frozen then the cheapest fix didn't work.

The fuses are the other side of the boot.

The video shown is not of the nav screen but the tv module it has taken over running the show as your nav computer has thrown a wobbler i would disconnect the battery and try again.

If the nav module fails, then monitor screen will usually be white/snow/blank with possible with a hint of backlighting. If you unplug the nav, then the TV module, if fitted, will take over the display and show an old style display in blue with white font. However the 2 min cut off is a known symptom of a failed nav in other series beside the E53. Nav replacement I'm afraid

Nav computer in the boot only as the video feed seems to be OK and the head screen is also OK.

You need to look for a replacement on line (Mark 4 Navigation Computer), or buy one from BMW for a ridiculous price.  Alternatively take your existing unit out and send it for repair.  There are companies on line who can do it for a lot less than a new one.

Yes.  Either a CD type Mark 3 up to 2003 facelift date and then it's a DVD type Mark 4 version.  They look the same.

This is what you need.

I can remember, these were over £400 not so long ago, so looks like a good time to buy.
