Swapping steering wheel for paddle shifters

Hi just got a LCI X40d, it doesn't have paddle shifters like my x6 had and a bit of a miss as i did actually use them. Ive seen steering wheels on ebay with paddle shifters. Are these any easy swap or will they need coding?

were these an actual option on the regular e70s?
never seen them on the e70 to be honest, so not sure whether it is possible or not.
if it was, it would definately need coding too.
i've seen someone retro fit these on 5 series before

Yes there was an option on the E70 and I thought the M Sport got it as standard?
The X6 was seen as the sporty model so all models had them.
