BMW MAN

Hi, I live about 30 mins from BMW Man in Derbyshire and was going to get him to MOT my car (2010 E70 40d) I am also tempted to have a Diesel enhancement service done.

I quote:-
" We now offer a service that can increase your MPG by up to 20%, provide a smoother delivery of power and increase your driving pleasure, complimenting your ultimate driving machine. All BMW Diesel engines are compatible from DDE v2 onwards (1994).

Please be aware this is a quality enhancement and not a remap. At no point is any software or hardware removed or replaced. This service is immune to software upgrades, so once it's been done, thats it!

Don't get locked in time with remaps, work with what BMW designed!"

Has anybody used BMW Man? Has anybody had this service? He gets good reviews, but would be interested in peoples comments.

Thanke
Tony

Of course it's 'by up to' which means when you get nothing it'll be your fault!

Personally I would be wary of anything like is - especially as it covers cars from 1994 onwards when emissions were very different and fuel metering at the injectors less accurate.

It might just be snake oil.....

Thanks Richard for your thoughts, I did wonder.
He charges £99 for the service, I might email him and ask what he does for the money.

Yes my car needed a service and MOT so decided to check him out.  He said all BMW's are set up to meet the very strict emissions laws in Germany and by loosening some of these parameters you should be able to get more low down torque and better mpg. Sounds feasible, although I cant say I have noticed any differance.

He did a break fluid change, a full oil change service, a visual inspection service (this always sounds a con to me) and an MOT.  He charged me £277.71 which I thought was very good, this also included his enhancement service which he always includes free with any service.

I personally think he is a great find and would have no hesitation in recommending him and will be using him for any future services or any other work I may need on the X.

No, I think it's a case of not being convinced as there is no detail about what 'enhancement' was actually done.  In the long term what does 'loosening' the parameters mean?  More pollution, sooting or what?
