Rear and side badges, take them off?

Post by celica » Tue Sep 09, 2014 7:59 am

My 3.0sd 58 plate has xdrive 35d on the side, I wander if this was put on after or the beginning of the 35d production but still registered as 3.0sd?

Anyway
Have you guys gone for a clean look and got rid of the rear X5 and the side badges?

Yes. Much nicer imho.

That side 35d xdrive badge is stupidly long as well...

Oh and a 35d is a 3.0 sd....

It'll be allright in the end. If it isn't allright it isn't the end

yes, probably will take it all off, especially the added M badge!

I know the 3.0sd is the 35d on same engine etc. but BMW didn't call out Xdrive 35d until later after the 3.0sd

Pre 2010 the range was either
3.0d
35d

Post 2010
3.0d
4.0d

Agree the badges are naff, especially ones like mine that have discoloured over the years.

I would pull them off, but I wouldn't want people thinking I had a lowly 3.0d version  ;) (pulls grenade and runs for cover).

Mine goes much faster now that I've written "MCLAREN TUNED" on the side with a marker pen.....

No badges on my 30D M Sport.  In fact, not of my BMWs have had any badges.
Never knowingly underfed

You can have the car with or without badges.  I've always had mine de-badged at build.  If you have badges and want them off then a hair dryer is great for warming and softening the glue.

Be careful with the front wings on the E70/71 as they are plastic so no excess heat!!  :o
