to me a little expensive, but I'm a newbie, I picked up a 4.6 53 plate with 62,000 for £6295, pretty tidy all round.  with that in mind I wouldn't want to get as high as ten for this one.

Any advice?

The 4.8is is a different beast to the 4.6 - engine has some differences, more power, more refined in the 4.8.  It looks like a well kept car with good history although none of the extra spec one would hope for is mentioned- tow bar, parking heater, front and rear electric seats, rear aircon, electric load floor, to name but a few.  The 4.8 does already come with a "basic" high spec compared to the 3.0D models, but many had additional specced items as well.

Its a reasonable mileage, interior being so light perhaps not to everyones taste due to difficulty keeping it clean (dogs kids etc).  Definitely worth looking at. The good service history is probably worth paying a little more and the pano roof can cost thousands to replace, so that sounds good. Ask lots of questions and see how flexible they are on price. Personally, I would pay that bit extra if a car ticked all the boxes for me, buying cheap is not always the right way to go. My own 4.8 was probably overpriced but has brought a lot of motoring enjoyment over the past 5 years.

Didn't note any mention of the sat nav and ad mentions the business single CD which is a bit odd for the 4.8 as I thought they came with the sat nav as standard.  Most cars that age came with a tape player behind the screen, but Ithink you could spec a single cd player as far back as 2004.  The 6 cd shuttle is standard. No mention of DSP amp either, so have a good check as to interior kit, car might mot have been totally accurately described. Also check the Bluetooth, which should be standard in the 4.8 -might be worth checking your phone syncs with the BT.

Had another closer look at all the photos - the nav screen is there, so they have not described the car accurately -check the nav is present and working, as well as the tv tuner and bluetooth. Tv tuner may be analogue in which case it will no longer work unless you add a digital tuner to the set up. The rear view mirror should also have an inbuilt digital compass, quite a nice feature.

Hi,

I went there today and  guess what.... it is on my driveway now :D X5 is in the tip top condition with BMW service history, and everything works as it should, even a TV is digital and it has fitted brand new tyres.
I has few stone chips on the bonnet and wings but it is 10 year old car.  They guy who was selling I could not recommend him enough top men. He runs a garage and he was selling the car for his client. He allowed us to use all facilities in the workshop to check the car properly including ramps. Very helpful. In the end I paid 9k plus £250 for the 6 months warranty, up to the value of the car.

When I drove it back it has made my day >:D >:D >:D Sound is incredible.

You won't be disappointed Greg - they are a great motor. Still got mine and it is showing no signs of getting tired after more than 5.5 years of ownership. Will be keeping it for a few more years to come too...

Well done Greg - sometimes worth paying more for a really nice example. as I said, seller rather underdescribed it as there was nav, tv etc as well. All in all a great car - I have no desire to get rid of mine after 5 years, the V 8 is very special :)  oh and you chose the best possible colour!  :)

I think I paid a market value. I just got it serviced including transmission fluid, water pump, all belts, spark plugs generally speaking major service and we have upgraded software for transmission, engine and  DSC. I will get some pictures over the weekend once I get it properly clean. I love this car to bits same as I love my e30 325ix.
