Hi All,
Getting ready to ditch my 2011 M3 for 2011 40D. I have looked around for buyers guide but doesn't seem to have one. Please let me know if there are anything specific I should look out for.
Thanks

535dboy hates 4x4 BMWs or anything that weighs more than his wallet!
The usual things will be electrical gremlins, make sure all recalls and software patches are bang up to date (Dealer only job), Satnav database is current (£300 if it's out of date), panoramic sunroof (if fitted).
If you need one with a towbar and it's been done at build there is almost a 100% certainty that it will be incorrectly wired! BMW fail to fit all 12 wires so your fridge circuit will be dead and need installing. Mine (and others) were fixed foc by BMW.
Transmissions seem to be hugely more resilient on the 8-speed boxes with far fewer issues of the type that still plagues the 1st gen X5 and other makes with that 6-sp auto.
Roof drains can block leading to damp carpets.
Uneven tyre wear due to tracking.
Peeling lacquer on 20" wheels of certain types
Stone chips on rear doors and wings on cars with 20" wheels. BMW offered a fix using a clear film to affected Owners.
Other than that you should be fine. I have the X6 version and love it.
Richard

My wallet is getting lighter all the time
For some reason I keep going back on all of my principles and just bought 2 number plates which cost a fortune (looking at the 3rd too) which were right up there with my pet hate of Porsches !
Before you know it I'll be buying a Pink x6 !!!
