Early AM setting off to work in the 4.8.......

Heaviest snow ever in our part of the Midlands.......after 20 min of the Webasto running, temp -6, I know the wheels look a bit, well, not quite right, but I love them!!!! 18" Vredesteins on Style 58 rims.
Neighbours (shared driveway) thought they were fine to set out in their non-winter tyred-rear-wheel drive cars an hour or two after I left for work.......they got themselves incredibly stuck
Got to love the X and her non-stylish wheels in weather like this, she's been every bit as good as the Range Rover I reluctantly sold after 6+ years of ownership!!!!

If it looks that bad
then f@<k the function i say
still having no probs with my normal wheels and tyres set up.That said we haven't had it as bad as the midlands yet! I think most of the funtion is with the driver anyway and how he/she drives in the conditions.

x555,
slightly off-topic but I thought "Webasto" was only for diesels - can you share how, cost, etc for fitting it to a 4.8iS?
I see you're fully enjoying your winter setup
why not!

That looks like about 2 inches of snow, max?
If people are getting stuck in that then they should not be on the road, even in the summer!!
There are Petrol versions of the Webasto heater as well as Diesel.

I do agree. I'm in the Midlands and have had no problems at all on my Toyo tyres and OE 20's.
Seems to be melting again though

thanks mate,
Indeed - I did little research afterwards and found it was an expensive factory option on petrols and also retro fitting is possible but not a very straightforward job. Good to know what's available.
