does anyone know if its possible to put the newer auto gearbox(8 speed) into an  55 plate x5 ,or has anyone ever tried this 

Apart from the obvious one of cost my thoughts are,

1. Space
2. Final drives
3. Control compatibility
4. Bell housing and torque converter

All things are possible though if you can throw enough time and money at it

Never mind the remapping because the ECU and box computers won't understand each other.

Probably easier to just buy an E70 with one fitted.

But as above, anything is possible if you pay enough.....

.....and out of interest, why?  Certainly a challenge for you so you must have a good reason?
