Also there doesn't seem to be a way of switching the nav screen off at night should I wish to do so.
There's a 'Control Display' tick box which makes the screen go blank when it isn't ticked. I think you hit the 'Option' button to see it.

I've got it on number 6 on my programmable buttons, as it is useful, along with night mode, turning sat nav sound off, etc.

I switch my 'Nav' into night mode (it's under the Options button on the controller, an that gets rid of a lot of the glare.

Why BMW have still not implemented it as the VW group did years ago so that it changes when the lights are on seems daft to me.  If the can do it in the software then it ought to be a function you can choose to use or ignore in the iDrive settings. >:(

Might be different across model years/markets.  My 2010 E70 has the powered boot but that will open from the key fob bottom button with the car locked.

It can still be bright on those but tbh has never bothered me

Even off I thought they had a bit of a glare?

Crap displays with backlight leakage then - I noticed it on mine too.  Obviously too difficult to turn the backlights off..... :nonono:

Sometimes I wonder about the decisions made by the manufacturers beancounters..... ;)

RE.......tailgate.

That seems odd to me, to have to unlock the wholecar to open the tailgate. Both my old E53 and E39 all operate the boot separately. Oh well, yes I did notice open boot button works when the car is unlocked, but from a hijack point of view, I have the drivers door only unlock on the first push of the button. Last thing I want is my mrs unlocks all the doors and 4 people jump out the bushes and let themselves in . I know what you are going to say but at least she has a chance if its only 1 open door.
I will look at the options for nav off .

Thanks,

Regards,

Nat.

You just set it on the iDrive with each key - no more dealer visit required - to open Driver's door only on 1st press and then repeat for second key.  You don't need the whole car unlocked.

Lots of functions are now set on each key individually (radio, seats, mirrors, unlocks one door/all doors/drive off relock, 30-sec relock, lighting modes, rear AC if fitted, temps, nav settings, media choices, Bluetooth pair for that key etc, quick function buttons).  You'll have lots of fun setting it up.  Just remember who's key is who's.... :P

It's great but when you've got comfort access, there are times when it chooses the passengers key :-)

Yup I always tell the mrs to keep back until I've opened the car!

Azurite Black,

A quick pic taken on the phone. As you can see if you look at the back half it looks back, but the front half looks blue.

I thought that was just to make sure she doesn't ever get to drive it.......... :)

Be interested to see more pics at different angles in different lights because that does not look much different to carbon black tbh

I will take some more pics soon. I had it parked next to a mates carbon black one. Azurite black is definetely a shade  darker ( or 2 ). Carbon black doesn't really change colour as the light hits it, azurite blue does.
Carbon black is a more consistent colour if that makes sense . As I said before I wanted carbon black but its not available on the SE, so azurite black it was. Im glad I persevered with the colour, although it was extra.

In sunlight it looks spectacular.

When I next clean it and its sunny will take some more pics.

Regards,

Nat.

I've had two cb cars and it really does look very blue in light, only reason I got away with it with the mrs as she doesn't like black cars!
