My adding "IMO" to my post was deliberate & totally respecting it's your choice to call your X what you wish ;)

I absolutely agree with AW8's sentiments, though, an X5, well certainly mine anyway, is not a "truck"  others refer to them as "jeeps", which again, is a complete insult to an X! No respect! Personally, I've never wanted a "truck" .....my X remains an X in our house!!!

Well, after waking up to frost a couple of times I took the plunge yesterday and popped my winter wheels on before the real white stuff comes.

Had a bit of a scare when it sounded like the fuel tank had been ruptured when it was jacked up - liquid was pouring out...turned out to be water that had collected in the protective cover under the car :o (we had a monumental rainstorm on Fri night).

I still can't believe the deal I got on the alloys and tyres. The wheels are like new and tyres have 6mm still on them. They aren't the most fashionable wheels - exactly the same wheels and rubber as these

exept I paid £100 plus p&p in September 8-)

Please don't ban me, it is one of the few forums where there is a lot of helpful folk and bundles of common sense :)

I bought them via ebay uk off an ex-pat in Spain! I think the xenophobia put the other English bidders off as there wasn't even a rival bid! I don't think that the pictures did them justice either so that may have put people off but I felt it was worth a gamble.

He turned out to be a really nice helpful guy who organised the shipping etc. and they are in A1 condition :) Best thing I've purchased off ebay by a mile and should be ok for a couple of winters

You can get bargains on ebay. I missed an opportunity to but an unused set of 19 in wheels and tyres for £600 (one tyre alone following puncture cost me over £300). In terms of winter tyres v lucky buy - well done. I bought mine from Germany - much more cloice but prices are fair rather than cheap.

Pete - Don't worry...... I won't hold your ebay success against you :)

I have watched auctions won by one bid only. Whenever I seem to bid others have jumped on bandwagon or the auction has ended early.

Oh well other priorities at present so will have to go without & in abscence of a bargain.

It is a forum sport by the way to buy winter wheels prior to AW8 getting hold of them...

(I would un-ban you anyway Pete :D ).

How much were mine again, AW8, that you kindly pointed in my direction? £100 or so? :poke:

Even though i have managed fine the last couple of winters it would still be nice to have that winter set ready to put on  .....it just goes to show though mate that we are the more superiour drivers that don't actually need the extra help :D :poke:

Apologies, I didn't realise you were in the market for some too - I don't want to rub salt in the wounds! The bargains are out there. Like someone else pointed out, auctions that finish when people are working or asleep often struggle to hit their true value. Also, badly listed and poorly photographed items tend to finish low too...if you can find a combination of all of those three you are onto a winner!

What tyre pressure should be in these 17in tyres? They all had 23 psi in when I checked them but I personally feel that is way too low.
The tyre itself says 34 - 49psi on the sidewall - which I think sounds too high :?

32-34psi is what I normally put in mine 19's and 17's
