Finally found my perfect X5
Re: Finally found my perfect X5
Trackstar became the BMW approved tracker which was shit and caused so many problems with my car that I got them to rip it out and replace it with a tracker.
I had no problems from that day on, well with that issue anyway
The roof problems then started!!!!

I had mine replaced and it was re-installed by the manufacturer and not the local car Dealer......no more issues since. The engineers who came out found the original installation was 'not compliant' with the correct standards or instructions issued. I still don't know where it is though.....
. Which is probably a good thing. Don't know, can't tell..... ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/original.gif)

Thanks, well worth it though. i've had some cracking cars over the years but can honestly say this is by far the best![Smile :)](./images/smilies/original.gif)
Keep finding 'toys', so well put together and it's power is unbelievable considering the size of the thing. A combination of being patient and listening to you guys has given me my ideal car.
Oh, another question
The voice command works on phone but all else is met with 'me no understand' from the bird that replys, are nav and media voice functions an option?

Re: Finally found my perfect X5
Voice recognition is an option. It is actually in the car but needs an activation code to 'enable' it.
The X6 option is as here. Given the same electronics are in both the E70 & E71, my guess is the code is the same. Have a look on Realoem to just check the codes against your last 7 VIN characters.
That being said, the commands have to be spoken in a way the blasted system understands!! Is the option shown on your build spec?

Re: Finally found my perfect X5
One other question, the Xdrive badges on the door look slightly corroded, the rest of the car is mint so it isn't down to lack of care.
I'm going to push the dealer to give me replacements as I pointed them out when viewing and they let the car down, he said they would clean up OK, has anyone claimed for these under warranty ( 2.5 yrs old so still under manufacturers warranty). i looked online and they seem to be £40 a piece !! Sod that, hence the warranty route![Razz :P](./images/smilies/tongue.gif)

There is that option, I guess they are on with trim tape? I've done that on a previous car, is this the 'done thing' on the X5 then![Smile :)](./images/smilies/original.gif)

Re: Finally found my perfect X5
No standards at all - your car, your choice. What makes you happy.
I like the cleaner lines and less cleaning around em, thing. Not that I have an E70!
Use string, dental flos to get them off and then panel wipe to help clean what's left (if you decide to go that way).

Re: Finally found my perfect X5
OK, still might get a set from the dealer and then decide.
I know about the pics, I've been driving it all weekend and it looks grubby now what with the rain we had down here yesterday, I want to show it all it's glory so pics will have to wait a short while mate![Smile :)](./images/smilies/original.gif)

Re: Finally found my perfect X5
Congrats on your new X5 with a nice spec and the 4.0d aswell.
Re the badges you can always get them from the dealer and keep them same and in meantime de badge it, and if you then want to sell it later you have some nice new badges to put back on then
Enjoy our new motor

You need the retrofit kit - which is just a licence key (same system as used for the expensive map updates) - from a Dealer. They generate it from your VIN and enter it and hey presto, voice activation is enabled.
