M50d Now Picked Up :-)

I drive mine as it should be driven and over 20,000 miles have averaged 26mpg.
On longer runs mid-thirties is achievable however not on short runs.
Wow that low! Have you found it gets worse as the engine loosens up over time?
Or are you just enjoying the power and fun >:D
My last car was an F10 M5 so I’m sad to say the M50d is very slow compared to a fast car! (Think 7.7 seconds to 100mph compared to 13.something for the 50d)
I don’t think these tri-diesel cars are economical unless you’re on a long run or drive carefully all the time. I don’t drive like a total hooligan but do accelerate as I want to - I can’t worry about a few mpg otherwise I’d have bought a Prius
I’d be surprised if anyone got 30 or more if they’re using the car for short journeys to the shop/work etc.
I’ve had the car well into 3 figures on the continent and it’s happy being there, it uses lots of diesel when really pushing on and takes an age to get there!

I wonder what the ‘Quad Turbo’ engine is going to be like..... :drive:
Pvr will never keep up due to having to stop at every petrol station.....

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Taxed off the road if the government have their way!
I wouldn’t worry about PVR, he’ll drive it so carefully and slowly he’ll be in the only X5M to get over 30mpg )

Re: M50d Now Picked Up :-)
Just back from it’s ceramic coating. Wow, what a difference.
Re: M50d Now Picked Up :-)
Looks good. What did they charge?
Re: M50d Now Picked Up :-)
A LOT of cash! Wash, wax, polish, coating, 2nd coating, then leather, windows & wheels coated, all using Gtechniq products was £800. The paint has a 5 year guarantee and yearly check-ups, so I’m hopeful it’s going to remain in top condition. If not, then they’ve seen me coming! )
Re: M50d Now Picked Up :-)
What does the checkup mean? Do they do another top up or so?

Yeah, as part of the warranty they check it over to see if it needs a top-up. What I’m not clear on is at who’s expense the top-up would be. I need to check the paperwork!

Between £400-£800 seems to be the going rate. I’m getting mine done in a few weeks, looking forward to getting all the swirls out.

Certainly the Carbon Black looks great once coated. I had mine done for £700 all inclusive and has the 5 year warranty but I got them to apply the IGL Kenzo ceramic coating. 11 months on the paint work has held up well with limited swirl marks.
Interested to know what the yearly check ups entail and what this includes as this was never offered to me.

How did you guys located the certified detailers? If you go via the gtechniq website it comes out quite a bit more?

I was recommended by one of the forum members.
It was then a matter of negotiating the best price between a couple of specialist and also researching the products available.

Agreed, she does take time. The big problem is going from actual fast motor to the 50D you expect her to perform I guess it’s a bit like sleeping with a porn star then going home to the wife .. sorry !
I do like the car and its quick ! For a SUV . Sounds good too but we know it doesn’t really, I’m not telling anyone if you don’t .
