Collected the X5 today after it being at the dealers for a week!  Haven't checked it properly yet, but had  a respray & film applied.  12000 miles &  the Carbon Black arches looked White!    Had the same problem on my 997 but that was already applied when I collected it.

Well whilst the car was in garage this week for the comfort update I showed the service manager the chips on the rear arches & he promptly took photos and sent of the BMW uk. Today I got the call that the re spray under warranty had been approved!

So 1 week without the beast.

I love these forums!

Before and after pics?

The service guy suggested they won't be applying a film but increasing the hardness of the paint!! Prefer not to have to film tbh. Let's see.

I've noticed that the film is now also available for the E71 too.  Not noticed any issues with mine.  There's a film piece attached to the rear doors ahead of the wheel arches.

I just took it to my local dealer and they took some photos to get approval to do under warranty. I didn't have to argue at all. In fact, I also pointed out that the 20" alloys were losing some lacquer near the centre and they replaced all 4 wheels!

Typically I ground one of them against a kerb last week after a couple of months :(

No It was me who mentioned it to the main dealer after seeing it on here  BMW denied there was a problem at first but main dealer supported my claim
