Hi Guys,
I thought I'd throw in my mix, on order with individual leather. For whatever reason INDIVIDUAL pushes the delivery back a further 2 months ????? Delivery Mid-May. I decided to go for a darker col leather as previously had Oyster and this can stain easily. Black on Black is too harsh so decided to go for the slate grey interior with white piping. The dealer was trying his hardest for me not to pick an invidual option. This will be my first X5, normally M3. 335, 535 Driver all one year old max. Current 335i with highest spec
on piston - http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2535583.htm

Is it recommended to have extra whell locks ?

Tracker were the old BMW recommended and I didn't have any probs with them. Had two now. Had Trackstar on x5 originally and it caused no end of probs with cars electrics

That's interesting. I'm looking into which tracking system to get. Do you know which is the better system - Tracker Locate or Tracker Monitor. On the surface Locate looks the better one to go for as it adds GSM, but I've also heard that it makes it easier for the little bug**rs to find the device to remove it?

@535dboy - they now dop Trackstar 450, new version. As I said tech guy specifically recommended Trackstar when I asked for Smartrack and mentioned Tracker, His company installs all three and Tracker at the moment is the most expensive out of three.
Smartrack seem to be good as well. Anyway I hope you problems were caused by incorrect installation :poke: and not by the device itself

X5Sport is quite happy about trackstar as I see and they seem to be "it is the UK's Leading GPS stolen vehicle tracking system" according to some websites :D

There is a long debate on which system is better - Tracker with VHF or Trackstar/Smartrack etc with GPS/GSM. Both have pros and cons. I am personally fitting tracking device for insurance purposes. Tracker offers cover only in Spain/France, Trackstar and smartrack offer European cover. However I strongly believe that If your car was stolen for order it will be done by professionals who know how to deal with any tracking system on the market.

The benefit you get with smartrack and (according to Vehtech guy) with trackstar now is possibility to track your car online. Spy on your missus for example

"Wheel bolts, locking" is part of standard equipment, so you will do - failing that someone has nicked them!!

I have the top of the range tracker (what ever it is called) which also has web based tracking and history for my car

When I demanded that the Trackstar was ripped out and this put in all of the electrical problems disappeared!!

Just spoke to a broker and they're saying that the 'free' media package is no longer ... the allocation has run out.

Anyone heard similar?

I'd be surprised - it's still showing on the X5 page of the BMW website. I would think this means that the dealership they use have used up their quota of cars within the necessary delivery window. I'd just try another broker / dealer. Also with continued economic uncertainty, and as more time elapses and the next incarnation of the X5 gets closer, I would expect offers / discounts to improve not get worse.

MJim is right. This offer is subject to availability. Offer says: "Options of equivalent value or lower may be redeemed subject to availability."

Try to call BMW UK customer services: 0800 325 600, they should be able to clarify

Out of interest re the trackers. Just spoke to my supplying BMW dealer, and they have stopped using the BMW trackstar, and reverted back to the Tracker. Consider it a better system. Didn't elaborate, but perhaps due to the prevalence of cheap jamming devices that as I understand can cancel out GSM/GPS systems.

Now I am considering tracker locate (that top of the range gsm/gps/VHF one), but I could not find anywhere on the tracker website any info on web based tracking history - can you briefly explain how it works and what options does it have?
