I have to say that, I am quite excited to be reading all of your posts regarding factory order and delivery (I ordered a m50d too)  It's given me a great insight to the process. It also shows me that not all dealers are the same.

In hindsight, I should have placed my order with Vines of Gatwick, rather than Coopers at Croydon... The new sales guy has not really kept me informed, and knowing that only a week ago, the car was at event 1200, he didn't even tell me that.

That's frustrating. I get an update every week but I still contact BMW chat every now and then to double check.

Where are yo located? We could have a group photoshoot!

Another 50d owner to be ......... welcome :ok:

We have bought 5 cars from Vines Group over the last 3 years (my Mum bought 2 Mini's, I bought 3 BMW's) and I have a really good relationship with them, they've always been really professional and will match any 'real' deal on the net (including c2c)

Todd (sales) has been brilliant and worked very hard to keep me happy and informed from initial order. He even cancelled my original order to delay the process by a week or two to ensure I got into build week 31 and had the new spec iDrive etc., that wasn't something I asked him to do. I will be buying more cars in the future I'm sure and will only currently buy from him/them.

The tracking process has worked very well using the BMW website and Genius and I must by now spoken to all of their staff in the website centre  :))

He is also now arranging for a tracker to be installed (my insurers LV insist on a tracker  :'( ) so the car will be ready to go from day one.

I also got a call yesterday followed by an email with the list of available registration numbers so I could pick one I wanted.

Unfortunately nothing brilliant but I had the choice, have made it and already have the car insured from the 17th.

Shame I'm not around when it lands at the dealers, Todd has suggested I can go and see it if I wish (at what point do we look totally stupid  :-[ )

Anyway, three weeks today and I'll be like a cat who's got the cream  8) :)

It's here

Had a call earlier the car was on a transporter and would be at the dealer today, would I like to come along and see it......absolutely yes I would :ok:

Still wrapped with no electronics working (loads need to be activated during the PDI apparently)

Couple of observations:

The car does have full interior lighting  :P

There is now a USB port just at the bottom of the dash in the middle so you can connect your phine rather than have to fight in the glove box.

Looks bloody awesome  8)

Wow! Not even prepped yet it looks amazing. Love that colour, I hope I don't regret switching to carbon as grey was my choice for a long time!

When are you collecting?

Tell me more about this USB socket - where exactly is that? I wonder if that means CarPlay ISN'T wireless...?

17th is the earliest I can collect.

I'm away in business from next Monday pretty much for two weeks so thought Saturday would be good so the family can come along and enjoy the experience.

I do like the grey but have seen a couple in darker colours and they also look the dogs. I've had a carbon X5 previously and fancied a change.

The Mrs also has a grey X3 which looks fab and also seems to keep quite clean even when it's dirty!
