Some advice pls from the current owners. For the home chargers, I presume I need the 32amp type 1 tethered socket?
http://www.rolecserv.com/ev-charging/pr ... ing-points

What other leads will I need if I'm to do any fast charging as I will need to do some when I pick up mine from west London for the travelling back to bristol.

You will need a 32amp charger if you have the 6.6kw charger fitted to your car, otherwise a 16amp charger will do.  The chargers can be supplied with either a tethered lead, or without.  Most prefer the tethered option as this saves time and hassle when connecting or disconnecting as you don't have to bother gathering up the lead and putting in the boot.  I am having a 32kw unit fitted even though I don't have the 6.6 kW charger in the car.  This is to future proof the charger as I think the next generation of cars will probably have the 6.6kw fitted as standard.

As for your trip to Bristol.  There are two types of chargers, one being a Fast Charger that takes between 4-8 hours to charge depending whether or not you have the 3.3kw or 6.6kw charger.  You need a type one to type two cable that's available from around £160. The other is the Rapid Charger that takes 30-40 minutes to give you around 80% charge.  Once at 80% the charging rate drops off dramatically to protect the batteries.  The Rapid Charger is tethered so therefore you don't need a cable for this one.

If I was you, I would plan to do the trip on Rapid Charges but work on around 40 miles between top ups incase there are any problems with the Rapid Charger on arrival.  I would also purchase the type one to type two cable so you have an option.

Depends if you trying to future proof, I think its better not to get teethered and get a type 2 then purchase a type 2 to type 1 cable (aka public charging cable) https://evconnectors.com/ev-plug-nissan-leaf-cable this you will make use of anyway when out and about if a Rapid charger is not available.
[/quote] Yes its a 3.3, and I may as well get the 32amp option as its free. I take it the tethered option just plugs straight in to the car, hence getting a type1. I will do a rapid charge on way home, just wondered if i need a type 1 to type 2 lead or do all charging stations cater for type 1? When you say future proofing do you mean getting a type 2 installed at my house.

Note on these damn charge cards, so most public charging stations are free right now, however you need card to activate them, so far I found out about:-

Source London - has a few networks rolled into 1 card. £5 a year no charge to charge
Ecotricity - free card, no charge, found more on motorways and IKEA
PolarInstant - £20 pay as you go card, £1.70 an hour for 7kw charge (even if you charge at 3.3kw), charge only taken at charged stations, most are still free and available on other cards like Source London

Thats all I got up to so far.

I must say I do like the 350z/370z and years ago I wanted one after my S14a 200sx but ended up in a TVR Cerbera instead, its an itch I still want to scratch though.

Just what I intend to do. By all accounts type one plugs are sooo last year I suspect the next generation of cars will be type two or different.

So at the risk of being slayed, whoops that's normal, no issues.

So Leaf'ers did you know after you select drive if you do the same again it goes into B (Brake), so this B and Eco is max efficiency, coupled with engine braking to stop rather then using the brake you can max out the range, when required. Thought I'd test it out done a 10 mile journey, set off with range at 83 and arrived with range 83. Wasn't driving pleasure but still at road speed limits.

Anyone got Google send to car to work? Nothing shows up for me, what should the username be set too?

If the 'send to car' is anything like the BMW version, you need to have an account set up by Nissan.  I use the account details (username & password) for my BMW Assist subscription.  Works a treat.

Agreed my Beemer one worked fine.  So I know Nissan uses the carwings account, just can't get the bugger to work.

On a different note, GAP Insurance, any advice on what I need to select, I take it that it should be the back to invoice? And what was that ALA insurance discount code, unless anyone knows of one better?
