You may need to change the cars ZCS to include factory option SA536 PARKING HEATER - however, it has worked for some - but did not work for me - it stopped my heater firing as it was looking for a changeover valve that didn't exist.  So coding "might" work, but may also need additional components - like the control panel for the a/c as mentioned.

Could it be a coding issue maybe..... Is it possible to do this with NCS Expert? I have NCS & I'm fairly familiar with activating/not activating items.... but never added anything to the vehicles ZCS....? how do you do this?

check post 20.  If you dont have filesharing software, send me your email address and I will email you the program to calculate your new zcs.

Then check
http://www.bmwcoding.com/showthread.php ... ving-SA536

bebr was quite helpful in explaining what to do.

Have you tried the glow plug I sent you?  You're INPA screenshots look near identical to what mine were - including the overheating.

I would disable the dash timer just now, and try my glow plug.  If that fails, hunt down an ECU for the webasto and swap it over.

Does the INPA/NCS/Progman package you have contain NCS v3.1.0?  any chance of that copy?

That was for Rob,  do you need it also?  I assumed you could undo your retrofit with DIS.

Send me your SA number and I will fire it in and see if SA536 is coded in your motor.

have you used NCS before?

If so, when you read the car, it will give you this

http://www.bmwcoding.com/showthread.php ... ving-SA536

let me know what your SA number is, and I will put it in the program and see what options your car currently thinks is installed.

Mine showed SA536A (parking heater) - which gave the timer on the dash - we retrofit programmed at BMW.

When I removed it to put the car back to it's original coding - My webasto worked.  (after changing it's ECU)

If you cannot undo the retrofit programming you done before to give you the timer, I can calculate the new SA number, which you then change in the car using NCS Expert instead.

There are instructions in that link if you want to try yourself

you need to sign up.  You can read the post then, and there is a step by step guide to doing it.
Use ncs to modify your ZCS.

BMW decoder can calculate new SA for you.
Start NCS. Load expertmode profile. F1>F3>car. Select IKE or EWS to read ZCS. Press F1 to enter new ZCS. Remove last digit in all lines, check the box called checksum, enter only new SA, all other remain the same. Do zcs_schreiben to EWS and IKE. Do code whole car with sg_codieren.
I wasn't able to code whole car, but I done the EWS and KMBI modules which is where the ZCS is stored, and it worked.

I downloaded it there first, trying to get a mates cable to work.

I then ended up buying my own cable that came with a disc with all the program's on it.

It's very fast. I can start it, read codes, check webasto function and close it down, before VMware loads up DIS - which means nothing to you just now lol
