Agreed, and even the MSport had them..... :o

Maybe the a Dealers are avoiding 20" wheels due to ride problems?

Took a new 30d off road today, thought it did very well.

It looks not a lot different from the E70 outside, however the inside is very different.
I thought it was smoother and the inside felt quality. Physically it looked a little smaller than the E70 and inside it felt slightly smaller from the drivers seat.

I will wait for the 40d  and make a decision then.

I think on the road at distance it would be hard to tel the X3 from the X5

Just had the Mini in for it's winter rubber and the dealer has a white M Sport out in the car park but too far from either showroom to read the 'X5' badge clearly .

Just out of devilment I asked a few of the folks whether it was the new X5 and every one of them said no it was an X3 but there was a new X5 design coming soon!!

They were a little surprised to discover that it was an X5 and 'soon' had in fact passed........

From the back it just looks like one of the estate cars.  It's nice inside though - apart from the odd position of the iDrive screen which just looks like a stuck on afterthought.  Almost as if the design team suddenly realised they had forgotten something.

I read the EVO test the other day online, it said that under a new exterior it's really still an E70!

Is that right?

Looks very similar so the changes must be in the chassis and suspension, and maybe different materials.

More pics - including the wing slot with no guards.....

The Dealer believes that the aerodynamics will keep it clean and the leading edges inside are untainted rough finish plastic trim.  He also suggested that as UK roads are used for testing now that BMW will have spotted this.  Only time will tell.  It may also require OEM approved tyres to be used if you want any warranty work covered for the duration of the warranty - and any extension.
