Glad you are enjoying your bikes.

Some seriously nice kit mentioned here.

Until recently I only had an old Raleigh full suspension mtb  - I am aware that most regard full suspension bikes in this class as heavy inefficient novelty items.

Recently been looking to get something a little better.

Locally there are plenty of cycle tracks and bridleways.but I also feel need to get on local roads too.

So I have compromised and bought a cyclocross bike. I say that it's actually fairly entry level - a boardman cx comp to be specific. Having ridden it on roads locally I am happy with my choice. Certainly I feel my choice will equip me better for all season riding than a Sunday best road only bike.

I may consider some upgrades later such as fitting avid bb7 discs and calipers and I also may consider some centre file tread tyres such as continental cyclocross speeds - not intending to get fastest times on canal paths or other green stuff.

Not sure what pedals to get - it came with cages and straps. I have never used cycle shoes that clip in ( weirdly called clip less I believe).

All in all I am quite happy. When I 1st started looking I was dismissive of the costs of modern bikes but I have learned that there are benefits of spending more. Personally I think I can't see why folk would spend many thousands but then again my view might change if I could justify such expense. It does make me chuckle when I see huge out if shape folk trying to save 50g

Unfortunately I bought latest bike at start of my summer leave this month only to then injure my left arm in a non related incident....thus I have only done about 40 miles on it for fear of aggravating my injury (left arm won't straighten).

Anyway the new bike is something different to look at and I hope to use it once my arm has recovered somewhat.

Hi sorry to hear about your accident , Halfords  do some good offers on in door trainers to fix your bike too , this may help you get used to the bike & help with recovery !
For the last 2 weeks they have had 10 percent off at certain times .
I bought a cyclo cross last year it is a great bit of kit but compared with doing the miles on this & the road bike they are like chalk & cheese cyclo cross 11kg road bike 7.25 kg massive difference especially going up hills .
I looked at the Boardman cx a few weeks ago nice looking bike !
As regards pedals you can take the toe clips off save some money for your road bike .

Not quite although if you look into the specs they are fairly good value for money !
The M carbon has Ultegra  6700 & Enduro XT M770 , I have yet to meet any one else on them either although I am looking into a Supersix Evo at the minute .

Not mine.  I ride to and from work daily.  Did 30km around the local area this morning.

Saw a guy do the same in the boxing ring, doctor then proceeded to put it back in there and then.  It was very painful to watch let alone be the one with the issue.
