Sounds a nice spec.

8 to 10% is available if you ask in the right places, makes quite a difference on such an expensive car.

First stealer I tried offered no discount at all! Mate tried one the other day and was also offered no discount! Usual scenario of.....we can sell all our allocation at full price, no need for discounting!!!

Yes.  Only certain models gets auto-retracting towbar units.  The rest have to be manually attached/detached and put away again..... :(

Looks like there's only 3 of us on here actually put pen to paper and bought the F15....Discount only applies guys if you put your money where your mouth is eh! Dealers don't give a flat 6,8 or even 10% to everyone! I'm from Scotland and tbh can't be bothered to drive to the south of England to pick up my car! Would much prefer to deal with the local guy who has now given me an extra bit (8% now)off for introducing a mate who has also bought one....also means a better deal on the the wife's X3 in May next year by keeping it local!

It's not the discount factor keeping me away.

It's the 'do I like it' factor.., oh plus 'do I have the dough to pay for it' factor  :P

Exactly, I was in the do I like camp for a few weeks. Really wanted to like the new X5 but after two overnight test drives I was always left underwhelmed. Looks wise I wasn't convinced compared to the meatier look of the E70 but accept in 6 months this would grow on me likely. Interior was nice although I always felt I was sitting on top of the seat rather than being in and part of the car. Suspension in Comfort is much too floaty and a lot of roll in roundabouts which my E70 does not have as it has Adaptive Drive option.

The wheel arch gaps also were a big no no for me. On the demo cars it was clear these let all the dirt and grit though to be sprayed on the front doors. This will be an issue with damaged paintwork in the future and the fact I love a spotless car this was one design feature not for me.

In the end my local dealer weren't doing enough discount to tempt me and their attitude was extremely off putting. I had an offer of 8% from another dealer who I would have dealt with had I been going for the X5 but in the end I decided against it and ordered another marque.

Have defected to the dark side  :-[

Ordered an Audi SQ5 for March delivery. 3.0 twin turbo diesel 313 bhp 0 - 60 in 5.1 secs. Bit smaller than an X5 for sure but space isn't a major issue. More torque than a 40d X5 as well  :o

Could lie and say the exhaust sounds weren't an attraction but they are, petrol V8 noises from a very swift 3.0 TDI. Great residuals as well complete the package.

Nice choice, especially if you don't need the extra space.  Think I'd have chosen the audi over the 335d too :)

I looked at the RRS and looking at the diesel equivalent of the 30d the RRS came out about £3500 more than the F15 i specced. This was with a similar spec on both cars, the waters are muddied slightly by the fact that different things come as standard on each make.

Didn't I say that already?

The "cost to change" if trading in will be different though as I don't see us getting the same sort of trade in from RR for a BMW. I couldnt even get them to make me an offer of PX because the delivery lag (when I looked in August) was for delivery in April / May 2014. Dealer said they couldnt (or wouldnt) work out a trade in price for a car that far ahead. The reality is that demand was / is far outstripping supply, so they can afford to be choosy!

I decided it was too long to wait and will be going for an "ugly" f15.  ::)

It'll be allright in the end. If it isn't allright it isn't the end

Guys anyone considering a new F15 m sport get along to peter Vardy in Edinburgh they have a low rate pcp deal with a £4k discount straight up front, add in a few options & you will get a good bit more off in my experience with them.
