Sounds good, what sort of things does the 'service pack' cover?
The full service costs that are due within the time period covered.
There used to be two levels when I had the 535
One would be straight service etc the other would include all brakes etc.

Re: X5 4.8 wanted
So, the latest on my saga to find an X5.
Still tempted by the low miles private 40d I mentioned earlier, phoned in the week and he still has it. Due to the distance the car is from me and not having driven a 40d I decided to take a look at one at my local BMW dealer and get a test drive to see if I liked them.
Well, what can I say other than superb !! It pulls like a train, doesn't sound like a diesel, handles and drives as good as the 4.8 and has the same looks, I think this is the choice for me now as it makes more sense from a financial point of view.
Now I've just got to get off my backside to travel up North and take a look at the private one, if all's OK then I need to negotiate a good deal as the price he is asking is a but OTT.

The 4.8 may have a V8 soundtrack, but a 40d still comes with a very purposeful and un diesel-like growl when you need to....err.....get a move on. I actually prefer it as it makes the car a bit more understated, unless of course it is leaving you in it's dust.....

Re: X5 4.8 wanted
After a few days with the four pot diesel X3 - I must say dropping my humble 3.0d X5 in to sport mode and listening to it growl I was more than happy. I do find that the BMW 3 litre diesel engines do have a 'distant v8' rumble to them when pushing on. (this is my third - E46 330d, E39 530d and now the X)

Re: X5 4.8 wanted
One of the 40d SE's I'm considering has the 'M' type side skirts/step as opposed to the aluminium step that other SE's have. Is this an option, the rest of the car is very much SE spec?
The only thing I don't like with the SE is the two tiny round exhaust tips, I think the 'M' has the flattened wider/meatier looking ones, can these be swapped over or is it a case of replacing half the exhaust?

Re: X5 4.8 wanted
You might be able to do what I did on my X6 40d and buy the 50i exhaust tips kit. It's a simple cut of the existing pipes just inner bumper side then some clamps (supplied in kit). However you will need to get the bumper inserts colour coded and possibly also fitted by a body shop as a little bumper cutting is required (not mug just a trim but best to let the experts do it!) the kit was around 450gbp from the dealer who services the bmwland forum (discounts for members and membership is free).

Mug?!? I meant much lmao at spellcheck
Re: X5 4.8 wanted
Cheers, at least there's a get out then when it comes to poofy looking exhaust tips
Looking at some google pics of the X5 40d, the later SE's seem to have the 'M' style steps and not the ali ones so I'm guessing it's an update.

Re: X5 4.8 wanted
My latest 'possible' in a search for the 40d has ended this morning.
The one I was looking at ticked all the boxes but was a private sale from an elderly chap about 300 miles away. Having had several conversations over the weeks regarding price (he had it up for dealer money and then finally realised he was way out so reduced it) still high but if it was as good as he said then I would have been happy to pay it.
My dilema was the time travelling to see it so wanted to be 100% sure on money and condition prior to making the journey, now the funniest bit was he dropped the price by a grand on Sunday/Monday so I made arrangements to go see it mid week, I didn't mention I had seen the price drop so he put the price back up hoping I hadn't seen it !!
That scuppered the mid week visit, he's a stubborn old git and his attitude stunk from day one, selling a car privately is about respecting each other yet this old boy acted like he was doing me a favour by parting me with over £33K.
Last night the price dropped back down so I phoned him regarding finally coming to view today, again his attitude sucked, more rude and ignorant than before but I put up with it and only really thought about it after putting the phone down. Do I really want to get involved in a deal of this size, privately, with an ignorant old sod like this, am I going to regret it in the long run.......well he phoned this morning to see if I was coming up and I let him have both barrels, told him I wasn't interested after his attitude during the phone call last night
I'm very reasonable, not demanding and appreciate the seller's point of view in any deal. They are after the best deal for them but I'm after a reasonable deal for myself, buying through a private deal holds many risks for myself especially when talking tens of thousands of pounds, they need to appreciate this too as I have no dealer to go back to if I have problems.
It's a shame but there you go, it might have been the one but I'll move on.

What a shame the idiot talked (behaved) himself out of a deal.
