I'll vouch for Raj's unit . It looks the nutz and sounds even better , saw it at the Midlands X-mas meet .

Tbh it does seem a lot but then try making one yourself and see how long it actually takes and the cost of the materials, etc. the £50 one is too bad, but agree the £150 ones are expensive.

Also think they have the brackets etc to mount the headunit too so not just a cover so to speak.

I did think about butchering the OE satnav headunit to use as suggested but then for the money it's worth second hand couldn't justify it plus the amount of work involved too.

Hi guys, not posted for 18 months as sold my old 4.8is, missed her so just bought another one, up front on the new one is still analog TV so thought I might as well update the front head unit as I never liked the old sat nav system. Been looking at Dynavin and also found this one below

Anyone had any feedback from this ?

I would essentially like digi TV in motion, sat nav and iPhone integration.

As always all advice appreciated :-)

Hmm, have to confess now, I think a double din unit looks guff in the X. I'm not bothered too much about keeping OEM looks but the double din unit just looks lost in that huge facia plate.
Just my opinion tho.

To be honest, I have to agree looking at that photo.  Other pictures I have looked at didn't seem to have the unit looking quite as lost.  I think Raj's unit looks fuller somehow.
I have looked at the Dynavin unit but am a bit nervous of spending that money on a unit which has although looks OEM, receives a bit of negative feedback. It doesn't solve my DAB requirement either.  What a dilemma to be in...... :'(

Is yours a wider screen Raj?

Bonus Month next month, so looking to replace my head unit, now do I go for a OEM lookalike such as a Hualingan that fits nicely into the dashboard although possible headunit issues, quality, sound, etc. or a double din unit. But as you say, some of the DD units look lost in the dash and also, as well as having to buy the headunit, you also need to by the bezel, which isnt cheap, plus sometimes looks rubbish, although some are designed to follow the contours of the dash.

Sure does look like a Hualingan, also looks like its a MK5 as I dont recognise the interface. This was the biggest let down on the MK4 so lets hope they have sorted out the bugs. Mmmmmm, I wonder if there is a patch for my MK4 ???

Spoke to John at car vision today, he said they actually worked with Hualingan to make sure Gen 5 was exactly what they wanted, so I'm booked in this Friday for Gen 5 Hualingan to be fitted, going to add the extra modules for Digi TV and Digi radio while they are at it, on and reverse camera because beeps alone are not good enough for the wife lol so the X5 4.8 should be good to go after that :-)

Hi all

Hualingan gen 5 unit £500
Ext lead required ( £45 )  ( I have factory nav hence the need for the lead )
DVB -T Mpeg 4 £178
DAB bolt on £169
Rear view camera £61:60 ( on sale )

Head unit fitted free but £100 to fit the extra lead and the bolt ons above

So just over £1000 for the lot

I can take pics of the fit and supply any feedback you guys may want ??

I have the Lpg tank getting removed Thursday, gonna stick a new Bosch S5 battery in and get the ICE fitted Friday before the tank goes back in Saturday morning :-)
