Welcome aboard. Very nice change from the M3. Any plans apart from the dension perhaps?
Thanks very much Raj.

I'm thinking the dension 500 kit as I loved having my iPod in the M3. I think it would work well with the iDrive being able to scroll through the contents of the iPod on the main screen.

Remapped by Jason at Chiptune, depending on price!. I had a word with him the other week and he seemed very knowledgeable, and a very nice guy too.

Possibly the matt black kidney grilles ............... but maybe they look a bit footballerish !!

I also like the exhaust tips on the 40d (the oval ones) but can't justify spending a few hundred quid to change them.

Besides that not sure what else could be done. Any suggestions welcome folks. :)

Here's Kavs for inspiration:

He has gone to town on his E70 but then he always does...lol.

I'll be glad to offer advice on mods as I'm quite partial to them myself....lol

Colourcoded grille surrounds with matt black slats will personally give a nicer front end look.

Wow, Kav's obviously put in some time and effort into his car. I'm not sure that's for me (prefer the more subtle look) but will certainly give the more subtle mods some thought especially the remap !.

Just thought I'd add that I had the Dension 500 kit fitted at the weekend. It's superb. I'd recommend it to anybody who wants their iPod in the car and to be able to control it from the iDrive (and who doesn't have the usb audio interface).

Just bought a black chrome grill. It pretty nice. Will get a better picture up soon. It's a bit bling for me, but I'll stick with it for now!!.

I'm sticking with the subtle mods, so went for the official BMW 333m alloys too. Love them.

Alloys can always make or break a car looks wise but they are perfect... 8)

Grille looks spot on too from that pic.

Thanks Raj. I love the alloys and think they make a big difference. Still not 100% on the grill. Maybe the matt black grill would be better. I'll get a better pic up soon.

Welcome to the forum. Good folks on here with alot of good knowledge and X series know how.  Glad you like the 30sd but if you get a chance intro yourself to a 40D - Man that is some grunt  :)) :)) :)) :))

Had same year 30sd and it sold me on the E70. Gone thru most of the range from the 30sd to 35d to 40d.

Welcome aboard

Hi Dukester. I hear the 40d does have some serious grunt.

I drove a 35d the other day that had been remapped buy Jason at Chiptune. Now that has serious grunt too, 516lbft (700Nm) and 350 bhp. Awesome performance. I had an M3 with 343 bhp before my X5 and I was blown away by the re-mapped X5's performance for such a large car. Staggering torque too.

Did you notice a big difference between the 35d and the 40d ?

When I tested the X6, I tried various ones including the 35d - no 40D available.  The 40d has the extra two gears and the changes are so smooth it feels like continuous acceleration from Zero to 'Good Morning Constable  :policeman: :policeman:...... :o '  Very smooth power delivery.

It's only .3sec quicker off the line but that 'feels' much faster.  6.6sec is sports car country...and these things weigh over 2 tonnes!!  We used to have a Seat Leon Cupra 'R' with the 210bhp Audi TT engine and that would be left standing!!

Noticed a huge difference the moment I drove the 35d after trading in the 30sd.  Even bigger difference with the jump from the 35d to 40d.  I mean a noticeable difference. Gearbox on 40d seems extra smooth and haven't noticed any difference between going to sport mode or using the paddles. Same result - it's ready to kick ass and take names.  Large and heavy with that sportcar feel - amazing

Dukester

p.s. Did you buy those wheels new from BMW - I checked on replacing the 20s on my 35D and what a shock from BMW fot the new set - crazy

You can also get OEM wheels from Alloywheelsdirect dot net.  They only supply originals and somewhat cheaper than a Dealer will.  Still not cheap, but maybe not quite as scary.  Or of course you can source on the usual auctions site......they do occasionally come up in good condition.
