Not sure on the gp fault just glad you have it back up and running again.

That's a common fallacy, rooted in the dim and distant past.
Modern diesels utilise the glow plugs to regulate combustion temperature, not just to get the engine started. That's why they have glow plug controllers and not just a simple timer relay like old diesels did. It's all part of the emission control system, and if the vehicle has a DPF the glow plugs are also used for the regen. process.
IIRC even on a warm day the plugs will be active until the engine temp. is well above halfway.

From the technical manual…..this is for the E53. Every day is a school day it seems, as I also believed that for the E53 generation, it was based on a much lower temperature than is detailed.
Preheating
At coolant temperatures below 25°C, there is a preheating period of 0.5 seconds. The preheating period increases as the temperature falls, reaching a maximum of 2.7 seconds at a coolant temperature of less than -25°C.
Activation of the glowplug system on the instrument cluster only occurs at coolant temperatures below 0°C.
After-heating
At coolant temperatures below 30°C, there is a temperature-dependent after-heating period to improve idling and exhaust emission characteristics.
Start preheating
Start preheating takes place for approx. 10 seconds if after the preheating time has elapsed the engine is not started and the ignition remain on.

Just super strange replaced the lot including module and perm codes still come backX5Sport wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2024 4:48 pm From the technical manual…..this is for the E53. Bad wiring or dodgy connector?

Good result with the injector and threaded bar as for the glowplugs the most likely is the relay you bought is faulty assuming its properly plugged in as they are hard to access..

Did you fit Bosch plugs and controller? I know there are issues between Beru and Bosch as the two makes are not compatible. I think you said it was a Hitachi (or similar controller) so just wondering aloud if there’s and issue with those two not playing nicely together?

Yeah, Bosch plugs and hitachi controller, any recommendations I’ll sort it at a later dateX5Sport wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 8:44 pm Did you fit Bosch plugs and controller? Hello you lovely people. Been happy motoring till today….
I replaced the fuel rail along with underline pump etc as i originally thought it was them and we found out it was that injector .. anyway was spotty dog since it was fixed. Lost power the other day and refused to start pulled the codes and got rail pressure control valve activation 4332. Perm code I disconnected front one and back of high pressure fuel pump to check It’s not them. It’s got to be the back one. Luckily I kept the old working rail that had no sensor issues before. Would you advise I swap it
