M3 andM5 drivers will have you believe that X5 andX6 M&s aren't proper motorsport versions as the engines are production line based and not special enough.
Felt plenty special to me up Buttertubs Pass in pouring rain.....

I agree - my 40d is rapid, comfortable but I am ready for more addictive petrol noise and a dose of bullying on the French motorways  :))

Just received the 5 kg brochure from the Cayenne, they sure know how to present their cars in brochures. Only thing missing at the moment is the sports exhaust which I would like. Nothing like driving through the mountains with the roof / windows down and a sports exhaust on ... (I really am 25- ish  :-[ )

They are quiet inside, even with the exhaust flaps open, but will set off car alarms in underground car parks.....

That seems to be the case with M cars. The one I had before was half the cost to insure compare to the 3.0 model I had before that M.

All about crash statistics.

Today was the day for some fun with this one. It sure is a different animal from the 40D, the gearbox is rather different (no auto creep for example) and the exhaust sounds brutal at times.

Performance is very, very good and immediately available. No lag of any type.

Will be interesting to see how it compares to the new Cayenne when I test drive that.

Hi

Nice and You know you want one  :)), and in my opinion it does looks miles better than the Cayenne.

Ps should you also be flying the BMW flag and wouldnt they give you a loyalty discount?

Very nice. I considered the new Cayenne but with the discounts on the X5 and not on the Cayenne, it came down to money for me.

That is the problem really. The new Cayenne looks very nice and is identical priced as the X5M after discount. A discount level of 21.5% on the X5 versus next to nothing (seems to be about £1500 on the Cayenne).

The X5 has more toys and more power, but is older. Hmm.

But that’s over 100bhp down on the M. Surely the Turbo would be a better comparison?

The turbo is over 100k though.
