HI Andy

I am so pleased for you. I have been reading this thread and felt your financial pain and we even commented at the meet. Im so happy that its back in the fold and thrilled you are chuffed to bits. You said you booked it in to a place in London so do mention the name if I missed as it could help others? Dont mean to make you feel bad but we all hope that its not us that has an issue of this nature but your experience I am sure will help others should they face it. All the best :-)

The company that refurbished my gearbox are -
Mister Transmission Automatic Gearbox Specialist
Units 15-16
Ropery Business Park
Anchor & Hope Lane
Charlton
London
SE7 7RX
Tel: 02082691100

If anyone else is unfortunate to have gearbox trouble I recommend this company, not only for the service but they also under cut other companies quotes for me! 8-)
My quotes at started at £1900+VAT at a local garage and then contacted aload of others & mister transmission under cut them all & done it for £1620 inc VAT & comes with a 12 month, 12000 mile warrenty!

Thanks for posting about the garage as it's useful info.

The meet was the Bristol one on here where all the anoraks hang out :-)

Referring to Chomper's shirt again

Good to hear the car is back on the road, that price does not sound too bad (in the scale of bad bad I mean ...).

I'm glad to see you're back on the road :driving: I don't know how you handle being off the road for that long,
at least it looks like you got the best price you could for that job

Glad you're back on the road and it's all sorted. My rebuild wasn't a complete success first time as it turned out the dsmage was worse than thought. The company that did it replaced both the box again and the Mechatronics Unit under their 12-month warranty and it's been smooth ever since.

Just out of interest, did they tell you to run it in again? When mine came back, I was told to follow the BMW instuctions for running the car in again to make sure the box was properly matched to the car. Interested to know if you got that sort of advice too?

The gearbox thats been put in my car was the g'box that has been in it from new! Thats why the garage had it so long as they done a full refurb on my gearbox. They didn't say anything about running it in though! :?

Could you also tell us how long they had the car for to do the box - as posted elsewhere my mate's having a few problems that we believe are gearbox related so may be worth him talking to them.
