Don, I thought your part of the world was home to the "Tarmac your drive sir......" brigade?  Should be really cheap as they won't have so far to travel.....

What about a kerb edging up the driveway and gravel and block paving where you walk and park the car. The gravel would also act as a security measure(stop people sneaking up your drive) gravel is dirt cheap also.

Where Don lives, it would become a fox's litter tray.

I had to remove all stones from my original drive after stepping in some. Either that, or it was 5355dboy who could not quite make the normal facilities ...

Another one for block paving. Concrete imprinting is by far the best BUT massively expensive for what it is. I mean concrete is bloody cheap.

Oh and liking the aerial shot. Nice place.

You never let me in the house well not since ....

Guys thanks for all the advice, and I would say that block has it........well that was until lunchtime and the wife only halfway through shopping for new furniture.  By the end of the day the budget for the inside of the house had been blown and a severe dent had been made in the budget for the outside.  So block pave around the house for the paths and steps, the rest Tarmac. 

After all the help and advice here, I was really looking forward to the block so a little disappointed.  As 535dboy has ruled out investing in Irish Property, anyone else feeling flush, your donations will be gratefully received.

Just keeping it simple.

If you're going for some block then seal it with 'Resiblock ultra matt', this stuff ain't cheap but penetrates the surface of the block and the sand joints making the sand surface solid preventing weeds. Well worth it, better than the cheap water based muck sold elswhere.
If you do decide to seal with this then try Ebay as Resiblock sell dented tins on there cheaper, nine times out of ten the tins aren't damaged anyway when they arrive.
