Pretty sure he's right - I don't think the seat bases lift.

Definitely worth the wait as all good things come to those who do,  and I love that colour too.
Congratulations on the purchase and I hope the delivery goes smoothly.

Pretty sure this right. Not dropped the seats on mine yet but it looks the same set up as my old touring.

Fair enough, I've looked at pics online of the seats down and it appears the base doesn't lift, the load area does look flatter than he showed me but maybe they weren't fully flat? Not the end of the world, just wondered :)

Insurance sorted for when I get it, have a couple of other cars so had to get it on a multi car policy this time round as I need to sell one of the other cars and free up the NCB :(
Ended up at £625 comp with protected NCB, that's with Admiral but I did get other quotes of £500 and even one of just over £400 !! The problem is freeing up my no claims bonus, next year should be loads cheaper I think  :)

I tend to agree, I really can't see any manufacturer let alone BMW not having a flat load area in the boot.

Looking great. Question though, if the vehicle only had 11.5k miles than why would it need new tyres?

Because they don't last much longer than that on the E70

Rear seat bases don't fold forward in my 2010 35d, nor did they in my previous 2004 E53.  Giving the E53 seat base a tug upwards from the front is how you get to the seat belt mounts (and rear seat heating pre-wiring).
In my owners manual it's under 'Cargo bay' section see 'expanding cargo bay'.  Only refers to seat backs.

re Tyres: still got my original run-flats on  mine: 64000 KM - but Canadian driving is a little less enthusiastic that in the UK, and I've done a lot of motorway driving in that total.

I may have miss understood the point, but I think the question relates to the boot space once the 6th and 7th seats are folded away.  This is the part that I would expect to be flat.  I am not refering to the 3rd 4th and 5th seats being folded forward to extend the loading space, which I agree do not fold flat.

I remember reading somewhere that the Americans expect 50k plus out of their tyres (tires). This explains why they are shitie in the wet.  Not sure if the Canadians expect similar wear and tear.
