What about a HUD, or did I miss that in the list?
Very useful.

Expensive gimmick.

Sorry, that's total tripe.
HUD is amazingly useful and intuitive. I really miss it on the X6.
You probably found it dangerous as its impossible to look at the HUD while you're admiring yourself in the vanity mirrors at the same time.

Why didn't you order it then, too expensive?

Simples really, your eyes don't have to refocus as much as when looking in. You also remain looking out more as well.

There used to be a level of voice control included free, but an 'enhanced' version which cost £300. Wish i'd put it towards going for the individual hifi instead. HUD is fun and personally I have found it very useful - your speed and directions are right in from of you just below the line of sight. It's obviously not something you need but i'm really glad i went for it. Active cruise is another favourate. Both expensive options so depends on your priorities...

Personally I love it and glad I selected it as an option, although I would like it to be cheaper next time!
I think it makes driving safer as I don't have to take my eyes off the road ahead to check the speed and sat nav (I always have the voice turned off). Also easier to keep an eye on the active cruise control or other warnings that pop up from time to time e.g temp

Seat heating front
Seat heating rear
Lumbar support driver/passenger
Luggage compartment separating net
Third row seating
Air conditioning 4 zone auto control
Side view cameras
Adaptive headlights
Heated steering wheel
Individual door entrys.
Should be here soon. I am not a fan of Voice control, I am able to push buttons and I have never found it to work particularly well.
HUD: Ive flown fast jets, not quite the same. ( no weapons )Too expensive and more to go wrong and would rather spend the money on different options.
Power tailgate.........a pointless option IMHO. The car doesnt load itself . Maybe when Im 70 ill view it differently.
High beam assist............I can operate a high beam lever, another waste of money IMHO.
Comfort entry or soft close doors............same again I am afraid............
Sunroof...............the jury is out. Every car I have had has had a sunroof. I think I have used it half a dozen times and have had the £2500 bill when the pan roof goes wrong so have done without it as I really dont use it. Beige interior makes the interior nice and light anyway.
Lastly TV..........I have i/phone, I pads , internet etc etc so didnt see the point of TV .
Cant wait for it to arrive, will be more than a little different from most X5's ive seen.
Regards,
Nat.

Nat,
Congratulations on your impending delivery. Below is my take on your above points.
Voice control as said before, only if included else where.
HUD, a lot simpler than Fast Jet versions, but surprisingly useful, agree that it's too expensive
Power tailgate, with the newer versions having an IR sensor, they do have more usefulness (standard on the X6)
High Beam Assist, again, would only spec as part of a package, but handy enough, although it has its limits
I do like comfort access, and especially now that newer BMWs are keyless start/stop. It makes more sense.
Soft close doors are Shitie and a waste of money. It takes more effort not to pull the door closed too hard.
Sunroofs are way over priced.
Again TV is stupidly priced and limited!

In value for money terms I recommend rear sun screens and heated steering wheel.

+1 for the screens. Cheap to order at new and extortionate to fit later!
