If you remove the OEM floor shield (it's not a lot of use anyway) that comes with cars that have the boot floor kit, then you should gain about an inch or so - which might be enough.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Big thanks to Dave (Daveb) as at the weekend myself and Dave swapped our floors over. There is a massive gain in the height of the floor so this is perfect for my LPG conversion.

Dropped mine off this morning to Hilton Autogas for the Prins system.

Original boot floor and a 91lt tank so I'm happy with that.

Good luck with yours James and glad you got the floor swapped out.

In a Mk4 bodyshell?  ;)

I can just see you now - butt cheeks tightening when you don't get any news by late Thursday. Pick it up Friday and then spend until 2 am in the garage giving it a polish/wax.  :))

Sleep is for wimps anyway...LOL

Should all be fine BUT as I've mentioned in the meet thread, I'll just get one of you boys to tow it to the meet as Hilton is only just off the M54 at J1 (so on the way...LOL).

A happy day in the sun swapping a sliding floor for a static one. It was mostly straightforward, but James and I had a few head scratching moments. Although all the parts swap over easily, there's some trim parts that aren't obvious. Having both cars in the drive to compare made things much easier. There's a weird raised carpet panel just behind the rear seats on the sliding panel which we thought needed the seats removing, but eventually fathomed it.

I think it's there to seal the sliding floor (which is obviously raised) from the interior for noise, dust etc.

There's so much more room in the back now.

Yes there were a few head scratching moments but with Dave skills we managed to successfully swap over the two floors. Very happy with my new floor also.

Dave do you still fancy coming to the meet on Saturday. A few of us are driving up and can meet you somewhere on the M6 if you like? See the thread Raj started under the Meets section.

It's a shame cos I planned to come, but I'm gigging in London in the evening and I need to be there early. I'll make the next meet though.
