Having spent far too much time on detailing world, I'm always spending far too much money on detailing products. Have realised that a number of the products that sit, unloved, on my shelf are actually still pretty ace.

So, thanks to this thread, got out the AG HD today and gave the car a once over after a wash and clay. Very nice stuff indeed.  Need to correct in summer at some point.

An interesting thread indeed. I will freely admit that I find car cleaning a PITA . That being said I know I should put in some effort as the 5er is for keeps for a good few more years. Is worth using this AG HD stuff now with out any kind of claying (what ever that is) :-[  Or should I start from scratch and get the car machine polished and the adhere to a more caring regiem from that point onwards.

#huck, if you have any products you are looking to relocate, why not put them in the for sale section, I for one like to try other cleaning products but can't always afford or justify a new tub/pot/bottle.  I have bought several items from DW members in the past.  Just a thought

Definitely something to think about but there's something completely irrational which makes me want to keep everything. Even the Turtle Wax scratch remover from aeons ago - it's like a history of my car washing >valeting > detailing.

The latter I am sure is preferable; but we live in the real world.  I've decided to live with the swirls and little scratches I've got and just keep the regular washing going.  Now I know how easy the HD waxing is, I'll probably keep that going regularly too.  If I were to get a full detailing done, I'd become obsessive in trying to keep it looking perfect and that's not a good place to be - after all it's, just metal, plastic, glass and a bit of leather and rubber right?  (lights the blue touch paper and stands back)

+1 for your last........but it gives an escape from shall we say 'other duties' whilst cleaning the car..... O:-)

Especially if like me you end up doing both.....which takes ages dunnit..

Good post. I'm not nearly as obsessed as I used to be.  Still feel a good clay every now and again is worth it, though.  Not a massive outlay in terms of time and the results with AG HD, for example, is noticeably better.
